It was a hard year for many people. Among people with Long COVID many are not able to return to normal live and work (very often people who suffer had to reduce their work hours or modify duties due to persistent health issues). We are committed to breach gaps in knowledge and provide with latest guidance and up-to-date information for medical professionals. We observe the challenges among medical professionals with regards to understanding Long COVID nature due to lack of training or limited capacity for self learning. As a result, after 3 years since the pandemic started, Long COVID is still not being addressed sufficiently by medical professionals and health bodies.
Timely diagnostic is vital and is a prerequisite to identify personalised treatment modalities. We are looking for opportunities to integrate our knowledge with experts in digital services and AI to allow medical care accessible for everyone as and when needed!
Long Covid-19 Foundation relies on public support, donations and appreciates everyone’s contribution!
An estimated 2.1 million people living in private households in the UK (3.3% of the population) were experiencing self-reported long COVID (symptoms continuing for more than four weeks after the first confirmed or suspected coronavirus (COVID-19) infection not explained by something else) as of 1 October 2022; these estimates are only fully comparable with those in the October 2022 bulletin, when prevalence was 2.3 million, and not with any other previous bulletins because of changes in data collection methods.
Fatigue continued to be the most common symptom reported as part of individuals’ experience of long COVID (70% of those with self-reported long COVID), followed by difficulty concentrating (45%), shortness of breath (42%) and muscle ache (42%).
105,000 children and young people are currently living with Long Covid in the UK, 22,000 have had symptoms over a year, and 18,000 report activity is “limited a lot”.
In part, those symptoms included dizziness, anxiety, headache, rashes, joint pain, shortness of breath, heartburn, diarrhea and fevers, difficulty with memory, thinking, sleep and vision.
